Hello everyone, this is Max and welcome for this Dota 2’s character introduction video.
Today we make a mix between a centaur, an alien and a candy floss,
and we got Atropos,
the Bane Elemental.
Atropos, is an intelligence hero that has really powerful single target disable, dealing heavy damage.
He can literally make 3 enemies at a time completely useless,
which makes him a good ganker and a source of chaos during teamfights.
His skills can be a good way to indicate the target to focus.
Be careful though, his limited range and tricky spells makes him a difficult hero to play.
Bane’s first spell is Enfeeble.
It’s a unique debuff because it lowers by 100 the damage of the targeted enemy during 20s.
Thanks to its huge cast range and its short cooldown,
this spell is a good way to annihilate almost completely the opponent carry during a teamfight,
and thus, permanently !
Careful though, some items like Black King Bar or Manta Style are a good way to remove that debuff.
As the name suggests it, Atropos’ second skill Brain Sap, gives him the possibility to aspire his enemy’s brain,
and unfortunately for him, it’s not a pretty sight !
This spell deals from 90 to 300 damage giving it back to you as HP.
Those are pure damage, meaning magic resist won’t be taken in account.
This spell is Bane’s main nuke but it costs a huge amount of mana,
has a 14s cooldown at each level and a 600 cast range (meaning 200 more than your auto attack).
Bane Elemental’s third ability will make you have bad dreams.
Nightmare is a targeted skill used to put someone to sleep (ally or foe)
up to 7 seconds and dealing 20 damage per second.
Nightmare can be used in many ways, like to run away or even to deny.
Be careful though, a physical attack on the target will wake her up and put you to sleep,
which won’t happen if you use a spell.
This ability has to be used with caution if you don’t want to get the opposite of the original aim.
A precision to take into account :
during the first second of Nightmare, the target is invulnerable,
which can be useful to avoid a high damage spell like Lina’s ultimate for example.
Nightmare is a really good skill, but pretty hard to use !
Fiend’s Grip is Bane Elemental’s ultimate.
It’s another single target disable dealing high damage.
The spell deals 215 damage every second during 5 seconds to the targeted enemy.
But this ultimate has two kisscool effects !
During the whole duration of the skill, the target will be completely disabled,
plus, Atropos will drain 25% of its mana max.
Be careful it’s a channeling spell, which means Atropos will also not be able to move when you use it.
The spell costs 400 mana points, got a 100s cooldown and a 625 cast range.
It can be improved by Aghanim’s Scepter :
it will then last 6 seconds, deal 270 damage per second and drain 60% of the target’s max mana.
Speaking about the skill order now,
Start taking Nightmare, which will be a good way to disable an enemy for 4 seconds from level 1,
and potentially save you or give the possibility to initiate a gank.
Then upgrade Brain Sap which is your main nuke and a powerful auto heal.
At level 4 increase your stats, it will be more profitable than another level of Nightmare as its mana cost is too high.
After Brain Sap, upgrade Nightmare or Enfeeble depending on enemy’s team,
taking your ultimate every time you can.
Let’s talk about the equipment now !
As a starter, take 3 Iron Branches, some Oberver Wards or the Animal Courier if no one already took it,
a Healing Salve, a set of Tangos and a Clarity.
Then buy your Boots of Speed and upgrade your Branches into a Magic Wand if you need to.
Save up enough money to upgrade your Boots of Speed into Arcane Boots or Power Treads.
If you feel it’s necessary, Soul Ring will be a good way to have more mana and some HP regen.
You can also opt for a Bottle, which will come in handy to pick up the runes on the way when you’ll go gank.
Then buy a Necronomicon if you feel like doing some micro.
It will give you HP, an intelligence bonus
and will match pretty well with your ultimate if you activate it, especially in case of a gank.
If the opponent team got too much disable, take a Black King Bar, make it a priority if needed.
If you need more disable, take a Scythe of Vyse for the hex,
the Eul’s Scepter for the cyclone
or the Rod of Atos for the snare.
Always helpful.
If you need more survivability, Shiva’s Guard will be a good way to have more armor and intelligence,
as well as an AoE snare.
If you need a protection against magical damage, then you should take a Heart of Tarrasque,
or a Linken’s Sphere for its spell block.
Finally, if you ever think it’s useful, take a Blink Dagger to pick a better positioning in teamfights,
it can be a wise choice.
If you are completely powning the opponent team and that you want to have some fun,
take a Dagon, to add to your damage an additional burst.
If you want to play dirty, take a Shadow Blade to be able to escape tough situations.
There it is, it’s over for Bane Elemental, alias Atropos.
