Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne, visits Flying Colours in Peterborough
This is our seventh round table that we've done in different parts of the province.
And what's great about being to have it here at Flying Colours Corp is that we get a sense
the real businesses that are in this community and some of the challenges and successes.
We heard about the need and importance of programs like the Eastern Ontario Development
Fund and the consistency of that kind of initiative.
We heard about the partnerships between Trent University and Fleming College and businesses
and local municipality in terms of skilled trades and the need of us as government to
pay more attention to that.
And we've heard that consistently. That the gap between the labour market and labour force
is something that needs to be addressed
and the best way to do that is to address it in partnership with private section and
our educational institutions and government working hand in hand and with labour as well.
I met some folks here who are working here at Flying Colours Corp. who are living examples
of having come through the education system
and then gotten training here in the company but we need to find a way to scale that and
make sure that businesses have the opportunity to do training in partnership with education
institutions and governments.
